Bury 0 – 1 Wrexham
The lads finally pulled off their first victory for Brian Little last night at Gigg Lane, upsetting Bury 1-nil on Eifion Williams' first goal of the season in the 31st minute. In the process, they were able to pull themselves out of the relegation pit for the time being. It's seems clear (even from a continent away) that the squad is wholeheartedly buying into Little's program, as it's now been five points in the last three matches.
Sometimes all you need is a little luck. Bury's goalkeep Jim Provett left the box to clear a long volley from Richard Hope, but Provett slipped and fell in Williams was waiting alone to head the ball into an empty net. Unforutantely, Eifion suffered a pulled hamstring on the play and went off. His availability for Saturday's match remains questionable.
Anthony Williams came up with a nice save to keep the Dragons on top, and the squad had an outstanding day from start to finish. They remained unbeaten in Little's brief tenure as manager and now find themselves in the unusual position of facing a Dag & Red on the road on Saturday who are below them on the table. Let's hope they stay on a roll and keep moving up the ladder.
