Wrexham & Piacenza Last Two Matches:

Wrexham 3-10-2-11-24th Place League Two v. Chester City
Wrexham 2-2 Chester (11/25)

To Brian Little Era in Wrexham started auspiciously as the Dragons pulled out it two-all draw against Chester City at the Racecourse Ground last Saturday afternoon. The pitch was in a slippery condition, and Little shook up the starting XI by putting Wes Baynes in the reserve squad and at right wing back. Little also shook up the front of the lineup with. By shifting Robertson and Llewellyn to the midfield, together with Sam Aiston who recently came in on a loan deal while Proctor will Kevin Roberts got the visitors going with a goal in the 27th. Michael Proctor put an equalizer in the 37th on a beautiful pass from Neil Roberts. Just as the sides went appeared to have finished the half square at one, Paul Linwood who banged in a rebound from a corner in the final moments of stoppage time.

Wrexham came out in the second half in the all-too-familiar position of being down. Based on their performance so far this year, the lads would have mailed this one in the team would've gone even deeper into the relegation hole. Starting at the one-hour mark, Little saw that Chester had begun to take control of the midfield so he brought in some fresh legs, and the substitutes made all the difference. As the match approached the 75th, Haynes found Matty Done on the left flank, who in turn passed to Proctor who banged in his second goal of the match and the sides were once more square. All in all, it was a pretty nice way for Brian Little to start off his managerial career in North Wales. A win would have gotten them out of hole, but the team must feel awfully thrilled to come away from the match with a point. Dragons now face a bit of an uphill battle, with two road matches in a span of four days, first at Rochdale, on Saturday the first, then add Bury on Tuesday night the 4th.

Rochdale 0-0 Wrexham (12/1):
The good news is that Dragons remain unbeaten in the early stages of the Brian Little Era. Getting points on the road, regardless the sport is a positive. Even though ‘Dale had much the better of play, goalkeep Anthony Williams kept the lads in good stead throughout the match. The only real test Williams faced was a blast from Adam Le Fondre midway through the second that struck the crossbar. Dragons remain in the relegation zone at 3-10-3-12, but there’s hope moving forward. They face another big test on Tuesday against Bury (6-6-5-23). A victory would certainly pull them out of the relegation pit, so let us hope for big things.

Piacenza 5-9-1-16-15th Place Serie B
Piacenza 0-1 Messina (11/24)
For Piacenza, things did not go so well at home against Messina in the 16° giornata of Serie B action on Saturday. The Sicilian boys haven't won a road match in a dog's age, yet they found the magic touch. When they came to the Garilli. Biancolino scored the only goal of the match in the 16th, two to what the press reported as having been a comedy of errors in the Piacenza end of the pitch. Reports also indicate that Cacia (who will be leaving the team. At year's end) had a golden opportunity. But failed to capitalize. Piacenza is now lost five matches at home, and all of the buzz that was generated by the hiring of Somma appears to be fading. The road match against Vicenza, originally scheduled for November 17th but was postponed as a result of the riots that had occurred on the 10th will now be played this coming Saturday. It's getting to be that point in the season, where biancorossi need to start making the move and the positive overalls resign themselves to another mid to low finish on the table. They can do better than that. And the time to start proving it is now.

Vicenza 0-1 Piacenza (12/1)

Biancorossi opened the month of December on an extremely fortuitous note as they defeated Vicenza 1-nil on an “own-goal” inadvertently kicked into the net by Fissore in the 89th. According to news reports, it appeared as if both sides were content to play a scoreless draw before Lady Luck intervened for Piace. With the victory, biancorossi are now 6-9-1-19 and moved up to 14th on the Serie B table. On Saturday the 8th, the squad had best bring their ‘A’ game to Albinoleffe who amazingly sit in second place in the table with 32 points, only one behind Pisa. A win in this match would be fantastic.
