NFL Week 1 Thursday Night Preview
We’re back at it again for another season of NFL picks, as always “FOR FUN AND AMUSEMENT ONLY”. Each year, we compete with the top prognosticators in the business and each year, we more than hold our own. We cannot stress enough that money is hard to come by and wagering on the outcome of football games is best left to serious handicappers only. We do this solely for fun and do not endorse gambling. Got it? The line we use is the CBS Sportsline which is published every Tuesday or Wednesday.
At Green Bay -4.5 New Orleans 47
To the winner goes the spoils, THE BLING and the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers get to host the annual NFL Kickoff Classic against a very tough opponent in Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. This is simply a splendid way to kick off a new year with two of the NFC’s very best going toe to toe.
The Saints will be without DE Will Smith, who is suspended for two games resulting from the “Starcaps” litigation but they made great strides in upgrading the interior line with Aubrayo Franklin and Shaun “Big Daddy” Rogers. So look for Rodgers to depend more on the pass than rushing James Starks and Ryan Grant. Rodgers has a plethora of weapons at his disposal and ought to have a decent night throwing the football. On the other side, Drew Brees is not exactly chopped liver and he should have more than his share of success through the air. Lance Moore is doubtful for this game and his absence deprives Brees and the offense of a key target.
Projected Final Score: Green Bay 28, New Orleans 20
