Week 11 Review/Week 12 Preview: For the Week/Season: vs. W/L: (11-3)/109-51 vs. ATS: (7-7)/85-75 vs. Aggregate: (7-7)/88-72 vs. ATS: CBS Judge 89-71-0 CBS Brinson 85-75-0 Postcards 85-75-0 ESPN Simmons 80-76-7 CBS Richard 78-82-0 USAT Saraceno 76-79-5 CBS Prisco 76-84-0 CBS Freeman 75-85-0 Walter Football 71-81-8 vs. W/L: ESPN Accuscore 111-49 ESPN Pick 'em 109-51 PFT Rosenthal 109-51 Postcards 109-51 USAT Pete O'Brien 108-52 ESPN Allen 106-54 USAT Gary Mihoces 106-54 ESPN Wickersham 106-54 USAT Jarrett Bell 106-54 ESPN Golic 105-55 USAT Nate Davis 105-55 ESPN Schlereth 104-56 ESPN Hoge 103-57 USAT Tom Pedulla 103-57 USAT Jon Saraceno 101-59 USAT Jim Corbett 101-59 USAT Robert Klemko 99-61 ESPN Schefter 95-65 PFT Florio 98-62 ESPN Mortensen 94-66 The Sunday Games: At St. Louis -3.5 Arizona 40.5 Seriously, does anyone really care about the outcome of this game? Maybe there are a few long-suffering Cardinals and Rams fans out there, but outside of the local markets they’re far and few between. Anyhow, there’s a game to be played. Both of these teams could only muster one touchdown in their defeats last week, so what makes anyone think that there will be an offensive explosion this week? Projected Final Score: St. Louis 20, Arizona 14 At NY Jets -8.5 Buffalo 42.5 The Jets are now 5-5 along with the Bills, but it seems as though Buffalo is the team in freefall. You’d have to think that Coach Rex and the Jets are looking at this game as their season. Ryan Fitzpatrick has not performed well since signing that big contract extension after Week 4. Fred Jackson will miss this game and his absence will really hurt the Bills’ offense. CJ Spiller simply can’t cut it as an everydown back. After a great start, the Bills are more pretenders than contenders. The question is whether the Jets are in the same boat. Projected Final Score: NY Jets 24, Buffalo 13 At Cincinnati -7.5 Cleveland 37 The Browns pulled a second straight win out of the fire last week, but both of those teams are going nowhere. The Bengals put up a brave fight in losing against the Ravens and are still very much in the hunt for a Wild Card shot at 6-4. Good football teams know how to take care of business against an inferior opponent, so we’ll see whether the Bengals can deliver the goods. Projected Final Score: Cincinnati 23, Cleveland 13 Houston -3.5 At Jacksonville 37.5 The Texans have to soldier on without Matt Schaub, so it’ll be Matt Leinart behind the controls hereafter. Jacksonville nearly squeaked past Cleveland last week before falling short at the very end and at home they’re a tough nut to crack. Projected Final Score: Houston 24, Jacksonville 14 Carolina -3.5 At Indianapolis 44.5 Indianapolis had a week off to get its head together and prepare for Cam Newton, who put on another big time display of offense in the Panthers’ loss to Detroit last week. There’s a reason why the Dolts are 0-10 and it has a lot to do with their pathetic defense. Newton should have a field day in Indy on Sunday against a porous pass defense. Projected Final Score: Carolina 27, Indianapolis 17 At Tennessee -3.5 Tampa Bay 42 Someone ought to tell Coach Morris to quit whining about the lack of padded practices. It’s not as if the Bucs were singled out. 31 other teams have to comply with the new CBA rules as well. The Bucs gave the Packers a real tussle last week as the Pack’s nine-point win was not indicative of how close the game really was. Matt Hasselbeck injured his elbow in last week’s loss to Atlanta and Jake Locker had to spell him. Hasselbeck should be ready to go for this game and the Titans should have an enjoyable afternoon hosting the Bucs. Projected Final Score: Tennessee 24, Tampa Bay 20 At Atlanta -9.5 Minnesota 44 The Falcons let the Titans back into the game late last week and nearly got burned. The Vikings are now playing out the string and are this week’s punching bag for Matt Ryan & Co. Last week, the Vikes were blown off the turf last week against Oakland and AP went down with an ankle injury and it’s unknown just how effective he’ll be on Sunday. Projected Final Score: Atlanta 28, Minnesota 17 At Oakland -4.5 Chicago 42 The Raiders sit atop the AFC West at 6-4 and face a really tough test with the Bears. Sure, Cutler’s out of the lineup with a broken thumb and Caleb Hanie will quarterback the team but that ferocious defense is intact and well. Chicago had a big game against the Chargers last week but hitting the road without Cutler remains a big challenge with or without Cutler. Projected Final Score: Oakland 24, Chicago 17 At Seattle -4.5 Washington 37.5 The hard-luck Redskins travel to the great Northwest after losing a heartbreaker to the Cowboys last week. The ‘Hawks are now on a bit of a roll after last week’s dominant outing against the Rams. Although neither team will be playoff bound, it’s still a big game for both teams to use as a measuring stick. The ‘Hawks will use the 12th Man to their advantage and will make things really uncomfortable for Grossman. Projected Final Score: Seattle 23, Washington 17 New England -3.5 At Philadelphia 49.5 After getting off to a slow start, the Patriots bowled over Kansas City on Monday night. The Eagles saved their season last week with their big win over the Giants. Vince Young was more than capable filling in for Vick, who may be ready to go this week. This will be a really tough matchup for New England as the Eagles’ backs remain up against the wall and every week presents a must-win scenario. Projected Final Score: Philadelphia 24, New England 23 At San Diego -6.5 Denver 43.5 What has San Diego done to merit being favorites under any circumstance? There is no more disappointing team in the NFL than San Diego. This week, Tim Tebow and the Broncos come to town, fresh off their upset home win over the Jets. Right now, Tebow is a polarizing figure over his faith and religious views. So what? The only thing that football fans should be concerned about is whether he’s a big league quarterback. Despite being 4-1 as a starter, the jury’s still out. Projected Final Score: San Diego 27, Denver 20 Pittsburgh -10.5 At Kansas City 40 One thing we know for certain is that the Chiefs suck. They played well in New England for about a quarter and a half before being exposed and overwhelmed. We also know that Tyler Palko is not a big league quarterback so the Chiefs have brought in Kyle Orton, who was waived earlier this week by Denver. The Steelers are coming off of a bye and Roethlisberger is dealing with a broken thumb, but he should be ready to go on Sunday night. Projected Final Score: Pittsburgh 24, Kansas City 13 Monday Night Preview: At New Orleans -7.5 NY Giants 51.5 The Giants stunk last week against the Eagles last week, yet nearly won before Manning fumbled late in the game. How many three n’ outs were there anyway? It seemed as if the Giants punter was on the field more than the quarterback. If the G-Men consider themselves to be contenders the offense has to put forth a much, much better effort than last week’s. This week, they travel to the Superdome where the Saints are coming off of a bye and looking to steamroll their way to the top of the NFC South. Projected Final Score: New Orleans 27, NY Giants 21
