Week 11 Preview:
Give credit to Tim Tebow and the Broncos’ offense for pulling one of the fire late on Thursday night against the Jets, who are now 5-5 and are in a real rough spot regarding their playoff hopes.
The Sunday Games:
At Atlanta -6.5 Tennessee 44
The Falcons suffered a heartbreaking OT loss against New Orleans last week while the Titans routed Carolina. This week, the question is whether the up-and-down Titans can play a consistent brand of football from one week to the next. The Falcons remain in a dogfight for top spot in the NFC South and simply have to win this game to stay in the race.
Projected Final Score: Atlanta 27, Tennessee 20
At Miami -2.5 Buffalo 43
After starting off the year 0-7, the Dolphins have rebounded quite nicely winning their last two. The Bills were flattened 44-7 in Big D and have to be questioning whether that fast start was for real or a fluke. The Dolphins are only three games behind Buffalo and the Jets with a lot of football left to play.
Projected Final Score: Miami 23, Buffalo 17
At Ravens -7.5 Cincinnati 40.5
The Ravens were humiliated in Seattle last week and return home, where the defense is darn near impregnable. The Bengals played the Steelers really tough last week at home, losing by a touchdown late. In this AFC North clash, the Ravens clearly need to bring a better game if they hope to remain competitive in the division. If the Bengals fail to deliver, any pretensions they have of competing for the postseason are just that.
Projected Final Score: Ravens 24, Cincinnati 20
Jacksonville -1.5 At Cleveland 35.5
The Jags had their way with winless Indianapolis last week while the Browns’ field goal kicker shanked what would’ve been a game winner in the closing seconds. Both of these teams are lousy and are playing out the string.
Projected Final Score: Cleveland 17, Jacksonville 14
Oakland -1.5 At Minnesota 45
The Vikings were totally overwhelmed by the undefeated Packers on Monday night and this season can’t end soon enough. The Raiders had an extra three days to prepare for Minnesota after a solid Thursday night win over San Diego. The Raiders are thick in the fight for the lead in the AFC West and are looking to put the hammer down coming down the stretch.
Projected Final Score: Oakland 27, Minnesota 23
At Detroit -7.5 Carolina 47.5
A lot of the shine on the Lions’ fast start has faded with a couple of recent losses and now Honolulu Blue is looking to right the ship against the young Panthers. Cam Newton and the Panthers had a bad day last week against the Titans and that’s to be expected for a young and rebuilding team.
Projected Final Score: Detroit 27, Carolina 17
At Green Bay -14.5 Tampa Bay 49
The unbeaten Packers are looking to continue their impressive roll against another inferior opponent. The Pack breezed through their Monday night game with the Vikes and confidently await the arrival of the Bucs, who were routed at home by Houston last week.
Projected Final Score: Green Bay 34, Tampa Bay 17
Dallas -7.5 At Washington 41.5
Coming off a smashing win over Buffalo, the Cowboys travel to the DC looking to capitalize on a deflated Redskins team, who lost in Miami with Rex Grossman starting once more. These teams are great NFC East rivals but this is a game that the Cowboys ought to win without much trouble.
Projected Final Score: Dallas 28, Washington 17
At San Francisco -9.5 Arizona 41.5
Give the Cardinals a ton of credit for the way in which they manhandled the Eagles last week in Philly. The 8-1 ‘Niners continued to show that they’re for real after a big win over the G-Men. They remain at home with a chance to drive a spike in the NFC West competition, a race that should be over within the next week or two.
Projected Final Score: San Francisco 27, Arizona 17
At St. Louis -2.5 Seattle 39
The Rams lucked out a win in Cleveland last week after the Browns’ field goal kicker missed a chip shot that would’ve given the Browns a last-second win. The Seahawks are come off of a huge home win over the Ravens but when they hit the road, they’re another team altogether. This is a big opportunity for the ‘Hawks as they look to carry over their home success to this week’s challenge.
Projected Final Score: St. Louis 23, Seattle 20
At Chicago -3.5 San Diego 45
Is there any more consistently disappointing team than the Chargers? Seriously, ever year they tempt prognosticators with their talent and seemingly every year they spit the bit. The Bears are coming off a dominating win over the Lions and, while they can’t catch the Packers, have every bit as good a chance as the rest of the NFC contenders.
Projected Final Score: Chicago 24, San Diego 20
At NY Giants -4.5 Philadelphia 47
What happened to the Eagles last week? They lost to a big underdog and Vick was once again savagely beaten in the process. If they lose on Sunday night, any playoff hopes they harbored will go down the drain, as they pretty much need to run the table hereafter to have a shot. Don’t expect the G-Men to be gracious hosts as they have playoff hopes of their own and are trying to rebound from last week’s painful loss against San Francisco.
Projected Final Score: NY Giants 26, Philadelphia 20
Monday Night Preview:
At New England -14.5 Kansas City 48
The Patriots are coming off a huge win in the Meadowlands last week and now the Chiefs come to town minus Matt Cassel, who suffered a season ending hand injury. Now Tyler Palko will get the snaps for the rest of the season and that really has to hurt the Chiefs’ chances moving forward. But Hali can get after the quarterback and they can pound the rock.
Projected Final Score: New England 31, Kansas City 20
