Old School opinion (flavored with East Coast Angst) on sports, music, politics, law and American Life with a little bit of Frolic In Detour...

Sunday, September 11, 2011

Today is the 10th anniversary of that horrible day that remains seared in our collective memories. It will be a time for stirring speeches and emotional memories, for certain. Many innocent lives were suddenly taken on that sunny day and the America we once knew would never be the same. Despite all of the partisan political rhetoric and our current economic state, America remains a magnificent nation and our glorious Constitution is the envy of the world. Despite the fact that politicians have deliberately chosen to exclude a religious perspective from the official ceremonies at the WTC site on Sunday, we remain “One Nation Under God.” Many will instead silently mark this solemn occasion according to the dictates of their conscience.

Millions of Americans will be tuned into the opening day of football season, and that’s all well and good. But never forget the significance of September 11th. Please take a moment if you will to honor the sacrifices that were made that day and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives so that we can live free.

We Will Never Forget
