Monday Night Week 4 Preview:
At Miami PK New England 48
Once upon a time, a long time ago, “Monday Night Football” ruled the airwaves. Many times the games themselves were forgettable but people nonetheless tuned in for the dialogue between Howard and the Danderoo. People these days are more focused on the teams on the field, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing seeing as it is a football game that draws the public to the tube. But when MNF was a novelty back in the early-mid ‘70’s the banter between the broadcast crew was often more entertaining than the game. It was a lot of fun.
Week 4 Sunday was one of those "Any Given Sundays", as there were sucker lines to be had (Green Bay, New Orleans) and we foolishly bit. We overestimated certain teams and lost and tried to play cute with a couple of games and lost those as well. The Vegas Boys cleaned up again. We'll attempt to undo some of the damage from our bad weekly calls on this game.
The Patriots have not played well in Miami even in the Brady Era. They'll be able to put up some points, but the Henne-to-Marshall combination ought to do some serious damage against the weak and inexperienced Patriots' secondary. Look for Henne to use Anthony Fasano a lot as well. What the Dolphins' passing game can't do, the running game will. The wildcat may be passé, but the Dolphins can run the ball with Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, which will enable them to better control the clock and keep Brady off the field. And that’ll be the key to winning.
Projected Final Score: Miami 27, New England 24
