Week 12 Preview:

We started off the week going 2-1 ATS on Thanksgiving, which wasn’t bad, but the G-Men laid a real egg in Denver, so their playoff hopes are very much in jeopardy coming down the stretch. The Pack and Dallas had easy wins as expected and they got a playoff boost heading into December. The last week of November has some intriguing matchups so let’s give it a go.

Indianapolis -3.5 At Houston 49

Unbeaten Indianapolis has what seems to be a rare road game against a divisional opponent that’s coming off a short week and a bitter defeat against the Titans. Houston has to put everything on the line here because if they lose at home on Sunday, they’ll be playing out the string in December. They held Indy to 20 points the last time the teams met, so look for another hard fought contest.

Projected Final Score: Indianapolis 24, Houston 20

At Cincinnati -14 Cleveland 38.5

The Bungles disgraced themselves in Oakland last week, basically sleepwalking through the fourth quarter and it cost them big time while the Browns went out to a big lead in Detroit only to fall on the game’s final play. They scored 37 points, which ought to be good enough to win, but…they lost. Perhaps we should simply chalk up that game as an exhibition of two bad teams. This week there will be only one bad team taking the field, but the question is whether the Bungles are worth taking a 2 TD+ flier on.

Projected Final Score: Cincinnati 27, Cleveland 14.

At Minnesota -10.5 Chicago 46.5

There really is not much to analyze here. We’re not even into December yet the Bears’ season is winding down. They stink on both sides of the ball and Favre & Co. are going to put the hammer down in the Baggie Dome on Sunday.

Projected Final Score: Minnesota 27, Chicago 10

At Philadelphia -9 Washington 41

What’s to like here? The Eagles turned in a real stinker out on the Coast last week while the ‘Skins without Portis and Cooley (not to mention a paper thin O-Line) have played competitive football in recent weeks. Philly needs to run the ball effectively to succeed while their defenders should create enough mayhem to seriously disrupt Campbell’s game. We shall see…

Projected Final Score: Philadelphia 27, Washington 17

Miami -3 At Buffalo 39.5

The weather should be a bit of an eye opener for Coach Sparano’s crew, but seeing as the Bills have no offensive line of which to speak, Trent Edwards is in for a rough afternoon trying to move the ball forward. Look for Ricky Williams early and often to have effective gains all day long.

Projected Final Score: Miami 24, Buffalo 17

At Tennessee -2 Arizona 46.5

The Titans have been rolling in recent weeks as they try to march back to .500, which would be a pretty nice accomplishment seeing as they started out 0-6. Now they face another tough test with the Cardinals coming to town. Warner took quite a head knock last week and he may or may not be ready to go on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Cards already have a three-game lead in the dreadful NFC West, so it’s not as if the season’s riding on the line here. Look for Vince Young to have another good afternoon scrambling, throwing short passes and handing off the ball to Chris Johnson.

Projected Final Score: Tennessee 23, Arizona 20

Seattle -3 At St. Louis 42.5

Now that Bulger’s done for the year, can the Rams expect any better from Kyle Boller? Uh…no. For the Rams to stay competitive, Steven Jackson needs to have a big day running the ball, but Seattle is (slightly) better on both sides of the ball and Hasselbeck should be able to manhandle the Rams’ minor league pass defense.

Projected Final Score: Seattle 24, St. Louis 20

At Atlanta -12 Tampa Bay 46

The Falcons put forth a good effort last week, losing in OT to the Giants while the Bucs were overwhelmed by the Saints. Josh Freeman is on quite a learning curve and he will struggle on the road against a tough defense. Meanwhile, Matt Ryan ought to provide enough highlights to fill a reel against a very bad defense.

Projected Final Score: Atlanta 34, Tampa Bay 13

At NY Jets -3 Carolina 41.5

The reeling Jets return home to face a Panther team that had a poor showing against Miami last Thursday night. This game just doesn’t cause hearts to jump as both teams are disappointing. In the end, both teams should be able to run the ball well, but the Jets probably have nothing left in the tank after last week’s loss.

Projected Final Score: Carolina 23, NY Jets 21

At San Francisco -3 Jacksonville 41.5

This is a tough spot for the Jags, as the last time they traveled West they were flattened by the Seahawks, and the ‘Niners (although they’re 4-6) are a better team than Seattle, and they’ll bring their ‘A’ game to the table as they still have an outside chance at winning the division. Gore ought to have a halfway decent game, so look for the home team to win in a squeaker.

Projected Final Score: San Francisco 21, Jacksonville 17

At San Diego -13.5 Kansas City 45

The Chargers have seized control of the AFC West as they look to roll into December and onto the playoffs. The Chiefs are coming off a season-defining OT win over Pittsburgh. This week, it may be difficult for the Chiefs to deliver a repeat performance, as they’re on the road and facing a very tough opponent that’s looking to dominate at this point of the season. San Diego has a balanced attack and should be able to easily take advantage of the porous Chiefs’ defense.

Projected Final Score: Projected Final Score: San Diego 31, Kansas City 13

At Ravens -2.5 Pittsburgh 44

Big Ben got his brains scrambled last week, but he should be ready to go by Sunday night. The same’s not the case for Troy Polamalu. Maybe it will be a hangover season for the Steelers this year. But don’t count them out quite yet (after all, the Bungles remain in first place in the AFC North—for now). Both teams will struggle trying to establish a running game, and right now the Ravens’ pass D is suspect. Accordingly, the Steelers are the “upset” pick.

Projected Final Score: Pittsburgh 23, Ravens 20
