Week 6 Preview:

Why are there so many horrible games this week?

At Washington -6.5 Kansas City 37

The Chiefs gave Dallas a real run for their money before falling in overtime last week. This week they travel to the DC for a date with the wildly unachieving ‘Skins. If Washington loses here, it’s likely that the Jim Zorn Era will come to an abrupt end. Previously, Washington has let two winless teams beat them but the third time won’t be a charm. There has been a lot of finger-pointing going on with the ‘Skins this week (aimed toward the owner) and it appears as if the Coach hasn’t lost his team – yet.

Projected Final Score: Washington 23, Kansas City 16

At Cincinnati -4.5 Houston 45

Perhaps the 4-1 Bengals are for real, as they’re coming off a big win at the Ravens. The Texans were stopped on a goal line stand in Arizona and are looking to rebound against a team that might just feel overconfident. Maybe this would be an issue if the Bengals were on the road, but the Texans’ defense is really lousy…

Projected Final Score: Cincinnati 24, Houston 17

At Pittsburgh -13.5 Cleveland 38

The Steelers appear to be having a bit of a hangover year so far and have really missed Polamalu on defense, but he’ll be back this week. The Lions played them tough last week, so look for Pittsburgh to dominate on Sunday. The Brownies put up just two field goals but ended up defeating the disappointing Bills last week. If Cleveland’s offense were capable of generating anything, the two touchdowns would be a must to avoid, but moving the ball is going to be a very tough challenge for Mangini’s crew.

Projected Final Score: Pittsburgh 31, Cleveland 10

At Minnesota -2.5 Ravens 43.5

The Vikes return home to face a slumping Ravens team that has lost their last two outings against good teams. Favre and the offense need to bring their ‘A’ game against a tough defense that’s looking to stem the tide.

Projected Final Score: Minnesota 23, Ravens 20

At Jacksonville -9.5 St. Louis 42

The Jaguars were routed 41-0 last week in Seattle, but Sims-Walker was out and Garrard couldn’t generate any heat. So why are they considered double-digit favorites against the NFL’s worst team? The Rams are having a forgettable, throw away season…the only way the Jags cover is if they come out with their pride still hurting from last week

Projected Final Score: Jacksonville 23, St. Louis 13

At New Orleans -2.5 NY Giants 48

This should be Week 6’s pick of the litter, as two undefeateds hook up in the Superdome. Do the Saints come out stale after a bye week? The Giants blasted Oakland at home last week and Manning’s sore heel did not appear to affect his play. Once the game was in the bag, Coughlin wisely let him watch the rest of the blowout from the sidelines. The Saints may be well rested for their biggest test of the year and could run the ball effectively against the Giants’ D.

Projected Final Score: New Orleans 27, NY Giants 24

Carolina -3.5 At Tampa Bay 39.5

The Panthers are coming off their first win of the year and are looking to roll against the woeful Buckaroos. After getting blown off the field last week in Philly, Tampa Bay is looking at this game as a real chance to crack the win column as the Panthers haven’t exactly bowled over the competition.

Projected Final Score: Carolina 20, Tampa Bay 17

At Green Bay -13.5 Detroit 48.5

The Pack comes in off the bye refreshed and ready, looking to demolish a Lion team that played well at home, though they fell short to Pittsburgh. This is another two-touchdown game that would be tough to swallow were it not for the fact that Calvin Johnson probably won’t play and Stafford’s still out. You’d have to think that the Packers would want to dominate a divisional rival..

Projected Final Score: Green Bay 28, Detroit 13

Philadelphia -13.5 At Oakland 40.5

Last week it was conclusively proven that JaMarcus Russell is a bust. The Raiders were utterly and completely humiliated against the Giants in the Meadowlands and now return home to face McNabb and the Eagles, who toyed with Tampa Bay last week. Why should things be any different this week?

Projected Final Score: Philadelphia 27, Oakland 10

At Seattle -2.5 Arizona 47

The Seahawks must be feeling their oats after thrashing Jacksonville last week, but face a much tougher challenge against the Cardinals, who are looking to stay relevant in the NFC West race. After a lost year in ’08, the ‘Hawks are feeling like things are starting to fall into place again.

Projected Final Score: Seattle 24, Arizona 21

At NY Jets -9.5 Buffalo 38

The Bills entered the year with high expectations but as each week has passed they’ve gotten progressively worse and it sadly appears that Coach Jauron will be replaced at or before season’s end. The bloom is off the rose for the Jets, having lost their last two games, so they’ll be looking to right the ship against a beatable opponent. Ryan’s blitz-happy schemes will force Edwards into a lot of uncomfortable throws.

Projected Final Score: NY Jets 24, Buffalo 13

At New England -9.5 Tennessee 43.5

How could a team that won 13 games last year remain winless coming into Week 6? Peyton Manning torched the Titans defense last week and it sure looks like Kerry Collins’ run as the starter is coming to a close. The Patriots have never been able to win in Denver, as was demonstrated last week when McDaniels’ defensive adjustments completely shut down Brady and New England’s offense in the second half. The weather will be an issue in Foxboro on Sunday that may present challenges to both offenses.

Projected Final Score: New England 21, Tennessee 10

At Atlanta -2.5 Chicago 46

The Falcons get a well-deserved Sunday night audience after smashing San Francisco on the road last week and look forward to continuing their momentum against the Bears, who are coming off a bye. Look for Atlanta to keep rolling.

Projected Final Score: Atlanta 27, Chicago 23
