Lent 2008
Dear Friends,
Today Christians worldwide begin the Holy Season of Lent, the time of year from Ash Wednesday to Easter where we enter a solemn journey where we set time aside from our ordinary daily dramas to come closer to God. It’s far more than not eating meat on Fridays. It is a time for sacrifice, reflection and spiritual growth. It is the same journey taken by Jesus as discussed in the Christian scripture set forth in Matthew 4:1-11. Some folks take this time to refrain from bad habits and vices, while others consciously turn away from the stimuli constantly bombarding the senses to carve out a space of time for communion and prayer.
This brief time of solitude with God each day works wonders. The world with all of its madness will be waiting when we return yet reflection on what is eternal allows us not to engage the insanity of the temporal.
Regardless of your spiritual path, I wish for each of you a moment of time each day to reflect in this season.
Peace Be With You.
