Andre Tippett

Congratulations to Andre Tippett for his election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Though he made it to a Super Bowl with New England, most of his years in New England (1982-1993) were spent on losing teams. Selected on the second round at #41 from Iowa, Patriot fans were amazed at their good fortune, as he’d been an All-American and one of the best picks the team has ever made. He joins John Hannah as the only Patriots in the Hall who played their entire careers in New England. Tippett’s only problem was being a contemporary of Lawrence Taylor, who was in a class by himself (as a football player). Besides being a great player, Tippett has been a stand-up guy in the community since Day 1. In 1985, he was voted as the NFL’s Defensive MVP and was a “Master of Disaster” even in the years the Patriots were terrible. He remains beloved by the fans and now takes his rightful place of honor with the other elite players enshrined in Canton.
