Week 14 MNF Preview:

Chicago -6.5 At St. Louis 41

Well we won’t have the worry about the elements tonight, will we? Instead of playing real football in December in a cold, nasty weather on a muddy turf these two teams will fight it out in relative comfort beneath the Broker-Dome in old St. Louis…

Once upon a time, there were the Chicago Bears and Cleveland Rams, then the Rams moved to Los Angeles. Then the Browns came into being after World War II. But they moved to Baltimore about 10 years ago to replace the Colts franchise that moved to Indianapolis and then a new expansion Browns franchise came to be. There was no football in St. Louis until 1960, when the Cardinals moved from Chicago. Then they moved to Arizona, and the Rams moved back to the Midwest in another one of those sweetheart deals. Got it? At the end of the day, the Chicago Bears of George Halas are still in Chicago.

If you’re not dizzy from playing musical chairs, let’s get to the game. There is no reason why that the airship to win this game by at least 10 points. The Rams are perhaps the most enigmatic team in the league, I cannot even tell you the name of their head coach without looking it up. Yet, when with a record of 5-7 in the worst division in football, the NFC West, the Rams are incredibly still in the hunt. On the other hand, the Bears are a little dinged up on the defensive side of the ball, and it’s true that Rex Grossman has not played with tremendous consistency of late. One can only wonder how long Coach Smith will allow this to continue.
At this point in the season, with the NFC Central crown already in their back pocket, more than anything the Bears need to put forth a consistent two-way 60 minute effort tonight. The Rams would love an upset victory, but…

Projected Final score: Chicago 26, St. Louis 17.
