A Public Service Greeting From Your Uncle Sam
"Red and White/Blue Suede Shoes/
I’m Uncle Sam/How Do You Do?"
Greetings, America.
I Want You!

Tuesday, November 7 is Election Day here in the Good Ol’ USA, so listen up couch potatoes and knuckleheads, this is your Uncle Sam tellin’ you to get your asses in gear and get out there and vote. Depending on where you live, your vote may actually make a difference in who’s calling the shots locally, statewide or even nationally. In some places, nobody even bothers to challenge the incumbents, and everybody bitches and complains about the government.

Even if you think you’re vote doesn’t matter, the free exercise of your vote is your right. The one thing I know is that if you don’t get up off the couch and vote, you’ll get what you deserve for public servants. Sure, sometimes you’ve got to hold your nose when you enter the booth, I’ve been around a lot longer than you; I understand American politics. And I also share your frustration with those foolish attack ads, and them judges who think they know better n’ you.

And should you consider the slate of candidates and referendum questions on the ballot so horrid that you wouldn’t bother to get off the couch, remember the principle of the thing. Yes, I do keep an eye on things and can empathize with the way you feel. The political discourse is awful and the candidates out there are by and large dreadful phonies. Yet, in every precinct, there’s at least one candidate who is honorable and puts the interest of the public ahead of their own…depending on where you live I just may know of a few.
A lot of people fought and died for your right to vote. Even if there’s no one to vote for or against, honor their sacrifice by showing up and having been recorded as an active participant in the process. It is not only your right; but your civic duty.

So what are you waiting for?

Sincerely yours,
UNCLE SAM
