Week 4 NFL Recap:
Vs W/L (9-5)
Vs. Spread (6-7-1)
Vs. +/- (9-5)
For the Season:
Vs. W/L (41-19)
Vs. Spread: (33-26-1)
Vs. +/-: (22-38)
A good week for the over/under, but a piss poor week for the spread. Sub .500 is not going to make the grade. After four weeks, I’m presently ahead of five of the six "CBS Sportsline Experts". Next week, I’ll strive to pass the leader. The big disappointment remains Miami. While the Jets have played surprisingly well and perhaps the Patriots are rounding into shape. Detroit? Forgetaboutit…two times this year I expected them to come up with the upset, and two times they failed. They’ll get one more shot later on. Oakland and Houston have been lousy. In the case of the Texans, their upset win at home speaks more of the Dolphins’ deficiencies then their own, but congratulations on their first win. How ‘bout them Redskins? Talk about Jekyll & Hyde! They outplayed a very tough defense to grab the OT win. Next week they face the G-Men in the Meadowlands, we’ll see who shows up to play… Also in the NFC, Philly and Carolina appear to have righted things, the Cowboys have benefited to date from a soft schedule, but the King of the Rockpile is Chicago. While the defense does not appear to be as good as Buddy Ryan’s legendary "46", they are a damned good football team that bears (no pun intended) watching.
